This Thursday SBS Branch and Head Office staff went pink for the day, dressing up in their best and brightest pink clothing to raise funds for Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with organisations throughout the country encouraged to go Pink For a Day to help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer education, research and patient support.
Breast cancer is the most common female cancer in NZ, with nine women diagnosed every day and an average of 3,300 women and 25 men diagnosed every year.
As a charity, fundraising initiatives like Pink For a Day provide an important income stream for Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, allowing them to provide a range of programmes and services to everyday New Zealanders.
Overall this initiative has seen more than $52,800 raised by organisations throughout New Zealand, making an incredible difference to the amazing work done to support our local communities.
SBS Bank is a proud supporter of Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, partnering as an official sponsor of the annual Pink Ribbon Walks, hosting annual Pink Ribbon Breakfasts throughout our branches and head office, and providing ongoing donations with the support of our Members through the SBS Pink Ribbon Visa Credit Card.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this year's Pink Ribbon Walks are going virtual, with supporters from around the country able to take part in a huge digital event on October 31st.
The virtual event will see participants dress in pink and walk around their neighbourhoods, with sponsorship goodies, special prizes, MCs and a virtual warm up.
Those that have already bought a ticket for this year's Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch walk will automatically be registered for the virtual event. If you haven't signed up for walks yet but would like to take part you can sign up for the virtual event on the Pink Ribbon website here.
