As a Member owned New Zealand Bank, SBS has the community at its heart. Given this, it’s no wonder that Community initiatives are one of our biggest sponsorship areas! As proud Kiwis we strive every day to do right by our Members and put the heart back into banking whether it’s helping to look after mental health, protect our environment, raise great tamariki or just show some community spirit.

Ronald McDonald House South Island

Ronald McDonald House South Island supports families with children in hospital by helping to take care of daily necessities so families can focus on what matters most - their child.

Each year Ronald McDonald House South Island offers more than 1,200 families across New Zealand accommodation and support free of charge. SBS Bank is proud to support this great cause for another year by funding a room in Christchurch as well as a room and a car in Invercargill.

Southland Loss and Grief Centre

The Loss and Grief Centre offers support for people living with loss and grief of any sort including bereavement, separation, illness, isolation and other life changes.

Chatbus South

Chatbus South is a charity dedicated to giving young kiwis a safe place to talk to a trained counsellor about anything from friendship issues, bullying, and family issues, to neglect and abuse.

YES Chamber of Commerce

YES is an experiential business programme where Senior secondary school students form companies and create real products and services, earn real money, pay tax and retain profits.

Southland Santa Parade

Every year the Southland Santa Parade brings Santa and his elves and helpers to Invercargill for the families and communities of Southland. SBS is proud to sponsor a float in this great community event.

We’re proud to also support the following

  • Christchurch Community House
  • Tuturu Charitable Trust (Matariki event)

Southern Coastal Charitable Trust

The Southern Coastal Charitable Trust work has been organising large scale coastal clean-ups along the Fiordland and Western Island Coasts since 2012 with the aim of keeping our coastlines beautiful and environment clean.

Through this work volunteers have completed seven large clean ups, removing nearly 70 tonnes of rubbish from our pristine coastlines. Due to the remote locations, the cost of the clean-ups is immense, so we are thrilled to be able to do our bit as an official sponsor of the trust.
