As a registered bank, we know how important it is to keep your information safe and secure.  Our privacy statement is contained in our General Terms and Conditions.  You agree that this privacy statement applies to any personal data you provide us when using the SBS Bank Mobile Banking App.

By using the SBS Bank Mobile Banking App, you also agree that we may collect and store your SBS member number, activity within the SBS Bank Mobile Banking App, your mobile phone number, and information relating to your mobile device (including your app version, device type and model, operating system, IP address and security information related to your mobile device).

We collect and use this information:

» to identify you for communication purposes;

» for security purposes;

» to monitor and manage compatibility issues or required upgrades;

» to evaluate and improve the SBS Bank Mobile Banking App; and

» to provide you with relevant ads or information on or about our services.

We won't disclose any personal information to any third party for purposes unconnected with the purpose for which that information was provided to us.  The information we share with third parties is in an anonymous aggregated form so it will not include personal information to identify you, such as your name.

Keeping your information secure

We use a number of methods to ensure that your personal information, data and money is secure when using the SBS Bank Mobile Banking App (including those more particularly described in the Electronic Banking Terms and Conditions):

» SBS Bank allows you to access your bank accounts via the SBS Bank Mobile Banking App once the request is verified as coming from a pre-registered mobile app device that has been set up using your Member number, password and unique registration code.;

» We enforce online payment limits along with a 2nd Factor Authentication code that is sent to your mobile phone to make certain changes and to authorise payments over a certain amount.

» A session history is available which displays the last logon date and time.

» The SBS Bank Mobile Banking App will automatically time out when the session is idle requiring you to log in again with your security credentials.

» If your SBS Bank Mobile Banking App PIN is entered incorrectly three times, access to the SBS Bank Mobile Banking App will be blocked. This prevents anyone making multiple attempts to guess your password or PIN. You can reset your PIN by using the "Reset PIN" function or by calling us on 0800 727 2265.

You can help to protect the security of your information by following the tips listed under "Protecting yourself online" below.

We will never ring you, write to you or email you asking you to provide account details, credit limits or personal information so do not disclose any personal information to anyone. If you get such a call, phone 0800 727 2265 immediately to report it to us.

Protecting yourself online

» Never share your login details, PIN numbers, passwords or verification codes with anyone including bank staff, friends or family

» If you think someone knows your PIN number, use the SBS Bank Mobile Banking App to reset your PIN immediately

» Keep your device safe and do not share it with others

» Use the TouchID option on your mobile phone (if your phone is enabled for this feature)

» Always check your statements and advise us immediately of any unauthorised transactions

» Ensure that the devices you use to access your accounts have a firewall and anti-virus software installed. Ensure that your security settings are set to medium or ideally high

» Keep all mobile operating systems up to date

» Avoid using public or unsecured WiFi connection

» Please be careful when installing mobile apps 

» Avoid installing apps from unknown sources

Analytics and External Partners

We promote our products and services through our SBS Bank Mobile Banking App. We also use external advertising suppliers to promote our products and services through digital channels such as Google, Trade Me and Facebook. To provide the optimum experience both SBS Bank and external suppliers may use cookies (described below).

We use a Google Analytics service to measure the performance of the SBS Bank Mobile Banking App. This provides us with statistics detailing daily activity on our Mobile Banking App such as the number of visitors to our SBS Bank Mobile Banking App, the time of day they access the SBS Bank Mobile Banking App, the number of page views and the type of device they used to access the SBS Bank Mobile Banking App. This information is completely anonymous and allows us to provide the optimal experience for users of our Mobile Banking App.
